ECG – electrocardiography
Electrocardiography (ECG) (with 12 leads) is a test that can provide valuable information about the condition of the heart. This method records and graphically displays the electronic potential of the heart that arises during heart activity.
Electrocardiography is a very informative, inexpensive and accessible test that allows you to get a lot of information about the functional state of the heart.
Electrocardiography is an electronic recording of heart activity that is performed from the patient's body surface (upper and lower extremities, and chest). Electrodes are applied to parts of the body. Electrocardiography recording takes 5-10 minutes.
Electrocardiography is undoubtedly a very powerful and accessible diagnostic tool, but it is worth remembering that this method also has its weaknesses.
One of them is the short duration of the recording - about 20 seconds. For example, if a person has an arrhythmia, the record may not show it. It should also be noted that the recording is made at rest and not during normal operation.
Therefore, your cardiologist may recommend other cardiac tests:
- Bicycle ergometry;
- Echocardiography;
- and others examinations.
