Midwife
Midwives are representatives of the most ancient field of medicine – obstetrics. A midwife trains and prepares pregnant women for child-bearing, observes the movements of a child, listens to the heartbeat before a child is born. A midwife follows the child-bearing process and ensures its favourable process. She takes care of the woman in labour, observes her health condition and injects medicine. During child-bearing a midwife is present to conduct the child-bearing process. In case of necessity they provide assistance so as to relieve the child-bearing pain. A midwife is the first to meet a newborn, performs the external examination and treatment of a child, weighs and measures him/her. If the child-bearing process is complicated, a midwife invites a physician – gynaecologist and helps him/her to deliver a newborn.
