Holter Monitor
The Holter monitoring examination analyzes the heart's response to physical and emotional stress, the state of the heart during sleep, the heart rate and activity throughout the day. The doctor can analyze the data to determine the heart rhythm problems and their causes. This test is important to uncover hidden heartbeat problems.
A portable electrocardiogram (ECG) device that monitors heart rate for 24 hours is used for diagnosis. The electrodes are placed under clothing and the device is worn attached to the body. At the end of the recording, an electrocardiogram is analyzed with a special computer program to determine the conditions under which the patient develops arrhythmias, which may not be noticed during temporary examinations. During the monitoring of Holter, the patient's presence in the hospital is not mandatory, he is free to go about his daily routine.
